Regional immigration authorities say they are still waiting for formal direction from Indonesia\u2019s central government regarding a proposal to involve immigration offices in the collection or administration of Bali\u2019s foreign tourist levy\u2014a policy designed to support the island\u2019s cultural preservation and infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are still awaiting official policy from the central government,\u201d said Felucia Sengky Ratna, head of Bali\u2019s regional office of the Directorate General of Immigration. \u201cAt the regional level, we cannot make decisions independently without instruction.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Policy Still Taking Shape<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The idea of integrating immigration into the tourist levy system reflects a broader effort to streamline how Bali manages the millions of international arrivals it receives each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
