On Sunday night, four of them had guests. By Monday, one room had been swept away, and the two people inside it had not been found.

The Pelaga Eco Park landslide hit on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, in Pelaga village, Petang district, Badung Regency. Pelaga is a hill area in the north of Badung, a long way from the beach resorts most visitors associate with the regency. Material from a cliff of about 50 to 70 meters swept Room 6 away, according to the report from the site.

What the site looked like on Monday

Of the six glamping rooms, one was gone. The other five were damaged, from light to heavy, by a second wave of landslide material. The garden around the lodge was destroyed and buried in soil.

A joint search and rescue team brought water pumps and sniffer dogs and combed the river, but the first day of the operation ended without results. Weather and ground covered in debris made the search difficult. Police said 145 personnel from several agencies were deployed across three locations along the river.

What the owner said

Gus Tu, one of the owners, was in Denpasar when the landslide happened and said he was passing on what staff had told him. He said staff had told guests in the lower block to move to a safer place, and that some guests stayed in their rooms even though the landslide risk was visible. That account has not been independently confirmed. He also said some guests shouted warnings as the slide began.

After staff checked the site, they found Room 6 gone. The other guests were taken to the restaurant to wait for evacuation and have since left.

“The guests have all gone home now. As for the details, I don’t know. That is all I got from my staff,” he said.

Room 6 was originally booked by an Indonesian guest named Bangkit Mubarok, Gus Tu said. A second guest, a foreign man whose identity is still unknown, arrived and joined at a different time, which is why his name is not in the booking. “They came separately,” Gus Tu said.

Why it matters for visitors

The landslide was one of several rain-related incidents in Bali over the weekend. A road in Bangli Regency also collapsed the same night. Travelers staying in riverside or hillside accommodation in Bali’s highlands during heavy rain may want to ask their hosts what the evacuation plan is and where guests should go if conditions worsen.

The search team will resume on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The operation could not continue after dark on Monday because conditions at the site did not allow it.

Six glamping rooms stood beside a river at Pelaga Eco Park, in the hills of northern Bali.
