Joint Indonesian naval and military intelligence teams apprehended a man in Denpasar on Thursday, seizing an assembled pistol, ammunition, and various personal items as evidence.
DENPASAR, Bali — Indonesian naval authorities in Bali have arrested a man suspected of illegally selling firearms on the island, seizing an assembled pistol, live ammunition, and a cache of personal items during an operation last week.
The suspect, identified as Akhmad Soleh Ricard (33), a resident of Jimbaran originally from Lampung province, was apprehended by a joint intelligence team from the Koderal V military command and the Bali Naval Base (Lanal Bali). The arrest took place at approximately 12:16 PM local time on Thursday, January 22, at a food stall on Jalan Buana Raya in West Denpasar.
“The suspect and evidence of the illegal firearm sales will be processed further by the Denpasar Police,” stated Kapten Laut (P) Eko Mey, spokesperson for Lanal Bali, on Saturday.
Evidence Seized in the Operation
The items confiscated during the arrest include:
- One assembled Sig Sauer-style firearm
- Four rounds of live 9mm ammunition
- One soft gun (replica or non-lethal firearm)
- Multiple ATM cards from various banks
- Three identification cards (KTP) in the suspect’s name
- A driver’s license (SIM A)
- A motorcycle (Yamaha Xride)
- An iPhone 13 Pro Max
- Approximately 73,000 Indonesian Rupiah in cash
- Miscellaneous personal cards and a holster
The operation underscores ongoing efforts by Indonesian security forces to combat the illicit arms trade, which poses a significant concern for local and regional security. The case has been handed over to the Denpasar Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
