Regional disaster agency reports incidents in Jembrana, Tabanan, and Buleleng regencies, with emergency aid and assessments underway following heavy rains.
BALI, Indonesia — A series of weather-related disasters struck multiple areas of Bali on Thursday, January 15, 2026, impacting dozens of households across several regencies. The Bali Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has mobilized responses to flooding, landslides, and infrastructure damage triggered by intense rainfall.
In Jembrana Regency, a significant flood event occurred in Pekutatan Village. Floodwaters reaching approximately one meter in height affected 46 households, with 16 homes reported as damaged, according to I Gede Agung Teja Bhusana Yadnya, Chief Executive of BPBD Bali. In comments to detikBali on Friday, January 16, Yadnya stated that agency teams were assisting with cleanup and distributing aid packages containing food, clothing, and sanitation supplies. The flooding was attributed to the Pulukan River overflowing its banks.
Further east, Tabanan Regency reported several landslide incidents. A landslide in Munduktemu Village, Pupuan District, damaged two houses, temporarily displacing seven residents.
“BPBD Tabanan is conducting field assessments, and plans are for the affected residents to be evacuated,” Yadnya said. Additional landslides were reported in Sanda Village and Padangan Kangin Village, Pupuan District, where a home was reportedly buried by debris. Response operations in these areas are ongoing.
Buleleng Regency, on Bali’s north coast, also experienced multiple hazards. Flooding with water levels around 50 centimeters affected Sepang Village, Busungbiu District, reportedly caused by a breach near a local junior high school. Separately, a road collapse occurred on the main Titab road in Pucaksari Village due to river overflow, and fallen trees blocked access in several other locations.
The cluster of incidents underscores the vulnerability of various parts of Bali to extreme weather during the rainy season. For residents and travelers, they highlight the importance of staying informed about local conditions, especially when traveling through more rural or hilly interior regions of the island following periods of heavy rain.
