In the early hours of last Thursday, two assailants targeted a commuter on a motorbike, kicking the vehicle to force a fall before stealing a bag. The case is under active police investigation.
DENPASAR, Bali — Denpasar Police are investigating an early morning robbery that occurred last week on Buana Raya Road in West Denpasar, a residential and commercial thoroughfare. The incident, captured on CCTV and circulating on social media, involved two perpetrators on separate motorbikes targeting a man who was riding as a passenger.
According to Police Spokesperson Iptu I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, the robbery took place around 3:29 AM on Thursday, January 22. The victim, identified as Muammar, was returning home from work in the Kuta area as a passenger on a friend’s motorcycle.
“The incident began when the victim was riding pillion from Jalan Imam Bonjol toward Jalan Buana Raya,” Adi stated. “Upon arriving at the location, the victim was suddenly flanked by two perpetrators riding two motorcycles.”
One of the assailants allegedly kicked the victim’s motorcycle, causing it to fall. The second perpetrator then grabbed the victim’s waist bag before both fled the scene. The victim was reportedly assaulted during the robbery. Friends in the area attempted a pursuit but were unsuccessful.
The stolen bag contained approximately 700,000 Indonesian Rupiah in cash and a Realme Note 60X mobile phone, with total losses estimated at 1.7 million Rupiah. The victim has filed a formal report with the West Denpasar Police Station.
“Unit Reskrim Polsek Denpasar Barat is handling the case, and it is still in the investigation stage to uncover the identity and whereabouts of the perpetrators,” Adi added.
