UBUD — A brief but intense flash flood swept through Jalan Ambarawati, Lodtunduh on Tuesday afternoon (26 November 2025) after heavy rain poured across Bali since early morning. A short video captured by Putu Dimas, a local driver, shows water rapidly rising along the road and overflowing onto nearby access points before being sent to Hey Bali.
The flooding came as several parts of Gianyar and Ubud experienced continuous downpours throughout the day, creating reduced visibility, slippery roads, and localized inundation in low-lying areas.
Residents reported that the water receded shortly after the rainfall eased, but traffic movement was briefly disrupted as motorists slowed down to navigate the flooded stretch.
Ongoing Rain Across Bali
According to weather observations throughout the day, Bali has been experiencing prolonged rainfall linked to active rain clouds over the central and southern regions of the island. BMKG has warned that the wet season will continue to bring heavy showers, particularly in the afternoon and evening.
Advisory for Tourists
For visitors currently in Bali, especially those traveling around Ubud, it’s important to stay cautious during the rainy season:
1. Check BMKG updates before heading out
Weather can change quickly, and real-time information helps avoid flooded areas or heavy downpours.
2. Avoid riverbanks, cliffs, and narrow roads during heavy rain
Ubud, Tegalalang, and Nusa Penida are known for steep terrain and can be more prone to flash floods or minor landslides.
3. Plan extra travel time
Roads may become congested or slippery, especially in tourist areas with limited drainage.
4. Keep an eye on low-lying shortcuts
Many small Ubud roads can flood faster than main highways.
Overall Situation
While today’s flood in Lodtunduh was brief, it highlights the conditions Bali typically faces during peak rainy season. Authorities and local drivers urge both residents and travelers to remain alert and prioritize safety when moving around the island.
