HEYBALI – An Algerian national has been deported from Bali immediately following the completion of a prison sentence, in a case that illustrates how Indonesia’s immigration system handles foreign nationals once their criminal justice obligations are fulfilled.
The Denpasar Immigration Office confirmed the deportation of the man, identified by the initials BKH, 47, who was released to immigration custody after finishing his sentence at Bangli State Detention Center.
From Prison Release to Immigration Custody
Once BKH’s sentence concluded, he was handed over to immigration authorities to undergo standard administrative processing. Denpasar Immigration subsequently issued an Immigration Administrative Action ordering his deportation, a routine procedure applied to foreign nationals who have completed criminal sentences in Indonesia and no longer hold valid grounds to remain in the country.
Escorted Directly From Detention to the Airport
Officers from the Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Division escorted BKH directly to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport to carry out the deportation. He departed Friday, August 21, aboard Batik Air Malaysia flight OD307, bound for Kuala Lumpur, with the aircraft taking off at 1:45 p.m. local time.
A Multi-Leg Journey Back to North Africa
From Kuala Lumpur, BKH’s journey continued aboard two connecting Qatar Airways flights, QR853 and QR1379, routing through Doha before reaching his final destination in Algeria, a itinerary spanning three continents to complete his removal from Indonesia.
The case underscores a standard practice in Indonesian immigration enforcement: foreign nationals who serve criminal sentences within the country are typically deported immediately upon release, regardless of the length or complexity of the journey required to return them to their home country.
