BADUNG, Bali — Indonesian police have identified two foreign nationals as suspects in the fatal stabbing of a Dutch man outside a villa in Kerobokan, in what authorities describe as a targeted attack. The two men, both Brazilian citizens, are believed to have fled Indonesia less than a day after the killing, prompting a request for Interpol Red Notices.
The suspects have been named as Darlan Bruno Lima San Ana, 36, and Kalyl Hyorran, 29. Police say both were in Bali since mid-February and departed the country on March 24, hours after the attack.
“We have issued a wanted persons notice and submitted a Red Notice request to Interpol to expand the search internationally,” said Kombes I Gede Adhi Mulyawarman, director of general crimes at Bali Police, during a press conference on Saturday.
Attack Outside a Villa
The victim, identified as RP, 49, a Dutch national, was attacked on the night of March 23 in Banjar Anyar Kelod, Kerobokan, North Kuta.
According to police, the incident occurred as the victim was walking near the villa with his partner. Two men on a motorcycle approached the area. The victim, sensing danger, told his partner to return inside and secure the property.
Moments later, he was attacked with a knife.
He sustained multiple severe injuries and was taken to RSUP Prof. Ngoerah Hospital in Denpasar, where he was later pronounced dead.
The victim’s partner, who witnessed the attack, remains in Bali under police protection and has been identified as a key witness in the investigation.
Identification Through CCTV and Evidence
Police said the suspects were identified through a combination of crime scene investigation, witness statements, and CCTV footage collected around the area.
Footage reviewed by investigators shows one of the suspects wearing a ride-hailing jacket. Authorities also noted that what appears to be blood was visible on part of a suspect’s body following the attack.
“Based on crime scene findings, witness testimony, and technological analysis, we have identified two suspects,” Adhi Mulyawarman said.
Vehicles and Physical Evidence
Investigators have also identified two motorcycles believed to have been used by the suspects—one during surveillance and another during the attack itself.
The vehicles, identified as a black and a blue Honda Vario, are currently undergoing forensic examination, including testing for suspected blood traces.
At the scene, police collected several items of evidence, including a knife estimated to be around 30 centimeters in length, footwear, flashlights, and multiple blood samples.
Suspects Left Indonesia Hours Later
Immigration records show that both suspects departed Indonesia on March 24, less than 24 hours after the incident.
Police said the speed of their departure is now part of the ongoing investigation, alongside efforts to track their movements prior to and after leaving Bali.
Authorities have not disclosed any confirmed motive, and investigators say there is no established connection yet between the victim and the suspects.
Legal Status and Ongoing Search
The two men have been formally named as suspects and are being sought under Indonesia’s criminal law provisions related to murder and assault causing death. Penalties could include life imprisonment or the death penalty, depending on the outcome of legal proceedings.
With the suspects now believed to be outside Indonesia, police are coordinating with Interpol and international partners to locate and detain them.
For now, the case remains under active investigation, with police continuing to examine evidence and pursue leads both domestically and abroad.
