SERIRIT, Bali – A Russian tourist was injured after a Toyota Avanza collided with a truck during an overtaking maneuver on a busy highway in northern Bali on Tuesday, police said.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. on the Seririt–Singaraja road in Kalianget Village, one of the main transport corridors linking communities along Bali’s northern coast.

According to Buleleng Police, the accident happened when a Toyota Avanza driven by 56-year-old I Made Mahendra attempted to overtake a truck traveling in the same direction.

As the vehicle moved into the opposing lane, another vehicle appeared from the opposite direction.

Faced with limited space, the driver attempted to steer back into his lane but struck the right side of the truck.

“The Avanza driver attempted to overtake the truck in front of him. However, at the same time, a vehicle was approaching from the opposite direction, causing the driver to swerve left and collide with the truck,” said Iptu Yohana Rosalin Diaz, spokesperson for the Buleleng Police.

Two foreign nationals were passengers in the Avanza at the time of the collision.

One of them, 31-year-old Russian national Stenpoba, suffered abrasions to his forehead and received treatment at Pratama Tangguwisia Hospital in Seririt. Police said he remained conscious throughout the incident.

The second passenger, 34-year-old German national Constantin Markus Ulrich, was not injured.

Both vehicle drivers also escaped without injury.

Police said preliminary findings suggest the crash was caused by driver error during the overtaking maneuver.

“Our initial assessment indicates that the driver failed to properly observe oncoming traffic before attempting to pass the vehicle ahead,” Yohana said.

No criminal charges have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.

A Common Cause of Crashes

Overtaking collisions remain one of the most common causes of traffic accidents on two-lane roads across Indonesia, particularly on regional highways where heavy vehicles, motorcycles, and passenger cars share limited road space.

The Seririt–Singaraja route is widely used by freight trucks, local commuters, and tourists traveling between Bali’s northern coastal communities and the island’s urban centers.

Road safety experts frequently cite misjudging distance and speed of oncoming vehicles as a leading factor in overtaking-related crashes.

What Travelers Should Know

While neither foreign tourist suffered serious injuries, the incident serves as a reminder that driving conditions in Bali can differ significantly from those in Europe, Australia, or North America.

Many roads outside Bali’s main tourism centers remain two-lane highways where overtaking opportunities are limited and traffic conditions can change quickly.

Visitors planning to rent vehicles or hire drivers are advised to exercise caution, particularly on regional roads where visibility may be restricted and heavy vehicles are common.

Tuesday’s collision ended without fatalities.

But according to investigators, it began with a split-second decision that left little room for error.

  • “Aku kepikiran jadi LC…”
mereka hanya sedang mencoba bertahan hidup.
Kadang…
orang hanya ingin didengar tanpa direndahkan.
#Viral #LC #Kehidupan #RealitaHidup #AnakMuda #Ekonomi #ViralIndonesia #CeritaHidup #MentalHealth #Relationship #KehidupanKeras #Empati #BaliViralReporter #ViralBali #Indonesia #StoryOfTheDay #HumanStory #FYPIndonesia #TikTokIndonesia #FacebookViral #DramaKehidupan #KontenViral #Motivasi #RefleksiHidup #SocialIssue #LifeStory #ViralVideo #BaliToday #TrendingIndonesia
  • Nyesek banget. 🤢 #EsKepalCicak #ViralJijik #SafetyFirst #JajanBijak #balireporter
#Bali #BaliNews #KutaUtara #Badung #SungaiBali #SempadanSungai #VillaBali #PembangunanBali #LingkunganBali #SaveBali #KrisisLingkungan #BaliUpdate #BeritaBali #BaliHariIni #IndonesiaNews #ViralNews #UrbanDevelopment #Overdevelopment #ProtectBali #heybali

Penyelidikan masih berlangsung, sementara motif serangan belum diketahui.
