Viral TikTok Live During Nyepi: Police Investigate Obscene Act in North Bali

BULELENG, Bali — What should have been a day of silence and spiritual reflection took an unexpected turn when a livestream showing obscene behavior during Nyepi went viral across social media, drawing widespread condemnation and prompting a police investigation.

The incident, which reportedly occurred in the Buleleng regency of North Bali, involved two men conducting separate TikTok livestreams. According to video clips circulating online, one of the individuals allegedly exposed himself and engaged in inappropriate acts while broadcasting live—actions that stand in stark contrast to the solemnity of Bali’s most sacred holiday.

Buleleng Police spokesperson Iptu Yohana Rosalin Diaz confirmed that authorities are now handling the case. “It is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit,” she said on Saturday, adding that investigators are still working to determine the motives behind the livestream and to identify the individuals involved.

“We are still investigating their motives for conducting the livestream. Further developments will be shared later,” Yohana added.

A Sacred Day Disrupted

Nyepi, Bali’s Day of Silence, is observed with strict prohibitions on travel, outdoor activity, and entertainment. The day is intended for quiet contemplation, fasting, and meditation. For the Balinese Hindu community, it is a time to reset spiritual balance and convince evil spirits that the island is uninhabited.

The viral livestream has drawn sharp reactions from the public, with many expressing outrage that such behavior occurred during Nyepi—a day when even lights are dimmed and the island comes to a complete halt.

Police Investigation Underway

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the individuals involved, nor have they confirmed whether the livestream took place in a private or public setting. The Criminal Investigation Unit of Buleleng Police is leading the inquiry, focusing on both the content of the livestream and the circumstances under which it was recorded and broadcast.

Under Indonesian law, the distribution of obscene content online can carry significant legal consequences, particularly when it involves public platforms accessible to a wide audience.

A Reminder for Visitors

For the international community in Bali—expatriates, long-term visitors, and tourists—the incident serves as a reminder that Nyepi is not merely a local tradition but a legally and culturally enforced holiday. Respect for the day is expected of everyone on the island, regardless of nationality or religion.

While the investigation continues, the viral video has already sparked broader conversations about the responsibilities of content creators and the limits of acceptable behavior on social media platforms—especially during moments of cultural and religious significance.

Hey Bali News will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.

  • “Aku kepikiran jadi LC…”
mereka hanya sedang mencoba bertahan hidup.
Kadang…
orang hanya ingin didengar tanpa direndahkan.
#Viral #LC #Kehidupan #RealitaHidup #AnakMuda #Ekonomi #ViralIndonesia #CeritaHidup #MentalHealth #Relationship #KehidupanKeras #Empati #BaliViralReporter #ViralBali #Indonesia #StoryOfTheDay #HumanStory #FYPIndonesia #TikTokIndonesia #FacebookViral #DramaKehidupan #KontenViral #Motivasi #RefleksiHidup #SocialIssue #LifeStory #ViralVideo #BaliToday #TrendingIndonesia
  • Nyesek banget. 🤢 #EsKepalCicak #ViralJijik #SafetyFirst #JajanBijak #balireporter
#Bali #BaliNews #KutaUtara #Badung #SungaiBali #SempadanSungai #VillaBali #PembangunanBali #LingkunganBali #SaveBali #KrisisLingkungan #BaliUpdate #BeritaBali #BaliHariIni #IndonesiaNews #ViralNews #UrbanDevelopment #Overdevelopment #ProtectBali #heybali

Penyelidikan masih berlangsung, sementara motif serangan belum diketahui.
