Planning a beach holiday in Indonesia? While dozens of luxury resorts compete for travelers’ attention, a group of Bali-based tourism journalists has highlighted eight properties they believe deliver some of the country’s finest beachfront experiences.
The recommendations come from AJIP Bali (Aliansi Jurnalis Pariwisata Bali), a community of journalists dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism and reporting on travel issues across Bali and Indonesia. The list was shared with the editorial team at Hey Bali News as a curated selection of resorts that consistently stand out for their hospitality, location, design, and guest experience.
Rather than ranking properties from first to last, AJIP Bali selected eight destinations that showcase the diversity of Indonesia’s luxury beach resorts, from Bali’s famous coastline to the untouched shores of Flores and Sumba.
1. Ta’aktana, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa – Labuan Bajo

Located on the shores of Labuan Bajo, Ta’aktana blends contemporary luxury with spectacular views overlooking the gateway to Komodo National Park.
The resort features elegant suites, overwater villas, a private beach, multiple restaurants, a luxury spa, and a professional dive center, making it an excellent base for exploring one of Indonesia’s most famous marine destinations.
2. The Legian Seminyak, Bali

Overlooking Seminyak Beach, The Legian has long been regarded as one of Bali’s classic luxury resorts.
Known for its timeless architecture, spacious suites, and iconic multi-level infinity pool facing the Indian Ocean, it remains a favorite among travelers seeking sophisticated beachfront accommodation within walking distance of Seminyak’s renowned restaurants and boutiques.
3. NIHI Sumba

Frequently appearing on international luxury travel lists, NIHI Sumba offers an exclusive retreat on the remote shores of Sumba Island.
Its private villas overlook the famous Nihiwatu coastline, where guests can enjoy surfing, horseback riding, wellness experiences, and one of Indonesia’s most secluded luxury escapes.
4. Regent Bali Canggu

One of Bali’s newest luxury properties, Regent Bali Canggu brings refined elegance to the island’s vibrant surf capital.
The resort combines spacious suites, wellness facilities, fine dining, and easy access to Batu Bolong Beach, attracting travelers who want both relaxation and Canggu’s energetic café and lifestyle scene.
5. The Ritz-Carlton, Bali

Set between dramatic cliffs and a pristine stretch of coastline in Nusa Dua, The Ritz-Carlton, Bali offers panoramic Indian Ocean views, luxurious villas, award-winning dining, and one of Bali’s most celebrated ocean-inspired spas.
Its combination of privacy and world-class service continues to attract honeymooners and luxury travelers from around the world.
6. Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

Inspired by Bali’s neighborhood culture, Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach offers a vibrant blend of modern comfort and local character.
With direct beach access, multiple restaurants, lush tropical gardens, and stylish interiors, it appeals to travelers looking for a contemporary resort experience in one of Bali’s most popular beach destinations.
7. Jumeirah Bali

Perched on the cliffs of Pecatu, Jumeirah Bali combines Middle Eastern-inspired architecture with Balinese heritage.
Every villa features a private pool overlooking the Indian Ocean, creating an intimate setting for couples seeking luxury, privacy, and unforgettable sunsets.
8. Desa Potato Head, Bali

More than just a beach resort, Desa Potato Head has become one of Bali’s most influential lifestyle destinations.
Its innovative approach to regenerative tourism, sustainability, design, music, and culinary experiences has attracted visitors from around the globe. The beachfront property seamlessly combines accommodation, art, wellness, and environmental responsibility in one destination.
More Than Luxury, It’s About the Experience
According to AJIP Bali, choosing a beach resort today is no longer simply about five-star facilities or breathtaking ocean views.
Modern travelers increasingly seek authentic local experiences, environmental responsibility, thoughtful design, wellness, and meaningful connections with the destinations they visit.
Giostanovlatto Sinantong, Coordinator of AJIP Bali (Alliance of Bali Tourism Journalists), said the resorts selected this year represent more than luxury accommodations. They reflect the direction Indonesia’s tourism industry is taking as travelers become more conscious about quality, culture, and sustainability.
“Luxury today is no longer defined by marble lobbies or the size of a private villa. The world’s best resorts are those that create memorable experiences while respecting local culture, supporting surrounding communities, and protecting the natural environment. That is what today’s international travelers are increasingly looking for when they choose Indonesia.”
Whether you’re planning your first visit to Bali, exploring the untouched landscapes of Sumba, or discovering the marine wonders of Labuan Bajo, these eight resorts showcase some of Indonesia’s finest beachfront destinations for 2026.
